NFTerra Hackathon

What is the NFTerra Hackathon?

NFTs on Terra are exploding. For NFTs and the Web3 to really be adopted and drive UST demand, there must be more tools, infrastructure, utility, and other builds that make it easier for artists, communities, protocols, etc to engage with the space. NFTerra is a Terra NFT hackathon focused on bringing fresh ideas and talent into the Terra space to build NFT solutions for a web3 future. 

Terra is one of the strongest and fastest-growing communities around, so we’ve designed the hackathon in that mindset. NFTerra aims to provide a framework for open discussion while empowering communities and ecosystem members to get involved. There will be roundtable discussions, Twitter Spaces, and AMAs on podcasts for teams to present their projects and discuss ideas/feedback with the community. 

NFTerra is an initiative put on by Galactic Punks & organized by Contango Digital Assets. DAOs and Terra ecosystem partners have also joined to help bring the hack to life. Terra supports smart contracts, enabled by CosmWasm technology. Developers are able to:

• Build smart contracts in Rust, Go, or AssemblyScript
• Run on multiple chains, connected by the Cosmos IBC
• Use Terra stablecoins, on-chain swaps, layer 1 oracles as primitives
• Expose dApp userbases to Terra's payment services in a permissionless fashion

Submission Requirements:

Teams are encouraged to be creative and should build around NFTs, Web3, and DAOs with a focus on the Terra & CosmWasm ecosystem. See ‘Topics’ below for some ideas. 

• Team details and project name
• Working prototype or MVP
• Detailed project description and/or link to light paper
• Short video presentation/demonstration of project
• Link to the repository if applicable (ie. Involves a smart contract)
• Submit the above by the deadline

General Prizes: 

• 🏆 1st Prize - $10,000 UST
• 🏆 2nd Prize - $5,000 UST
• 🏆 3rd Prize - $2,500 UST

Community & Track Specific Prizes: 

• 🏆 GalacticDAO Prize - $7,500  (voted on and awarded by the GalacticDAO community)
• 🏆 Secret Network Prize - $5,000 (awarded by the Secret Network to a project advancing Secret NFTs)
• 🏆 BullDAO Prize -  $5,000 (voted on and awarded by the BullDAO community) 
• 🏆 TerraFlokiLabs Prize: 1 $TFTICII ticket (awarded by TerraFloki Labs to a project with bold and unconventional ideas behind it)

What Judges are Looking for: 

Competitive projects should do one or more of the following: 

• Advance the web3 capabilities of Terra & CosmWasm users
• Create web3 integrations across the Terra & CosmWasm ecosystem
• Drive demand & liquidity for UST

To be competitive for Community & Track Specific Prizes:

• Think about what would benefit the judging organization/DAO
• Secret Network – must incorporate Secret NFTs

How NFTerra Works:

1. Register for NFTerra Hackathon: to get access to our participant area and the chat system. Once you're signed up, you can either post your idea (if you have one) and/or brainstorm and meet others in the chat. If you don't have an idea yourself, you can apply to join a team in our Team Formation phase.
2. Public idea voting: to see which ideas are the community favorites. Getting a lot of votes does not impact your application to the NFTerra Hack.
3. Pre-Selection: once you have formed and we have received information from all teams, we'll start with the preselection. Teams will be notified of their acceptance to an NFTerra track and can either accept or deny participation.
4. During the 2-week event: teams will attend workshops and talks, as well as office hours, as they build out the concept or a working prototype.
5. After NFTerra: we'll review all the submissions and choose winning teams for further acceleration.
