The Story of Poker

Cerveza Poker is a famous Colombian beer, producing 8 million hectoliters each year! The company conducted several months of investigating how to rebrand itself, and consolidate its market share in the beer market through a 5.8 million dollars investment. Poker began when three friends founded the firm Cervezas Colombianas in Manizales in 1926, looking for a recipe that would balance the taste and quality of the German drink with the freshness that the climate of the capital of Caldas required. Later, in 1931, the new company was incorporated into the Bavaria brewery consortium.

The hackathon and its goal: how can we improve Poker’s brand quality perception?

The Coparching hackathon aimed to gather marketing students and professionals living in Spanish-speaking countries to explore and provide insights on Poker’s quality perception and provide disruptive solutions to improve it. The participants were provided with all the tools to follow a design thinking approach while developing their proposals. Customer-centricity and human-centered solutions were the subjects everybody was dancing around!

Around 1900 people registered for this hackathon and more than 1000 people participated, submitting more than 200 disruptive solutions! During the Pitching & Award Live Ceremony at the end of the challenge, Poker beer stakeholders and management were astonished to see so many participants and such bright ideas competing to improve the Poker beer brand perception!

How Eventornado helped you in organising the hackathon

Such a complex event would simply have been impossible to organise without Eventornado.

We were capable of easily tracking and communicating with 1900 registrations through an automated onboarding process and participant’s administration dashboard. For each one of the 200 teams that participated in the event, a private team chat has been seamlessly created upon the team’s registration: a loaded truck of manual work off our shoulders so we could focus on other important tasks for the event. At last, evaluating such big amounts of ideas was very simple while using Eventornado: we sent all the ideas to the judges through the review function of the platform, a very user-friendly and easy tool with a great interface that allows the judges to quickly evaluate all the ideas in just a couple of clicks.

There are tons of techniques to organise a hackathon but we think that the only way to make it both easy for all the stakeholders and also very professional for your clients, is to go with Eventornado.
